Q 001 |
Why does a sunset nearly always turn red?
A 001 |
White light is a combination of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, idigo, and violet lights. All of them bend as they pass through the air molecules in the atmosphere and, because the colours have different wavelengths, some bend more and are scattered more than others. At sunset, the sun's light has to pass through more atmosphere than when the sun is high in the sky. Except for red, all the colours are bent and scattered, and loose most of their light.
