Airline pilots write a list of any problems they had with the aircraft. The service engineers sometimes write their own comments:

Front tyre almost needs replacing.     Front tyre almost replaced.

Test flight OK, but autopilot landing was very bad.     Autopilot not installed on that plane.

Something loose in the cabin.     Something tightened in the cabin.

Radar screen not working.     Radar never works when turned off.

Autopilot suddenly caused 200m descent.     Cannot check this on the ground.
